Sounds like a "who cares?" kind of thing, but that's actually kind of a big deal if it creates case fragmentation. Not good. Hopefully inaccurate.
I'm sure Apple doesn't care wether or not 3rd party case manufactures have to change their cases because of their iPhone.

I just found that the person that was beat up was transgender and this was a hate crime. How come this is not all over the news? I guess hate crimes are okay now by black people but if a white person did this it would be the end of the world.

all of this is very positive to a recent switcher like myself.
i am trying to tranisiton everything to mac and i am open to going with iWork IF it can truely be a replacement to MS Oriface for me.
i am a mid level user. really i am a consumer user who has put in the time and effort to learn some of the more powerful features.
i hope that apple will begin to verify some of this info so i can confirm whether i wanna jump on the iWork7 bandwagon right away. :)

Can anyone who listened to the whole webcast tell me if the Product (RED) nano was mentioned? I'm working on a project about it and would love to include a quote from an apple exec.

Wow.
Actually, the reason I NEVR got a mobile phone until the iPhone came out is the dropped-call rate for my friends in NYC. Who were on Sprint, as it happened. Their experience was so poor that it kept me on land lines for decades :o
Luckily I get almost no dropped calls with my iPhone--but I'm not in NYC!

Is this good for case manufacturers (more product varieties to sell, more shelf space allotted, more chance to sell a new case to a user who changes models) or a headache (less economy of scale, more customer confusion)?

It's interesting how cell service works. Here's a simplistic summary:
Only a certain number of users can use a tower at any given time. There is only a certain range of frequencies that can be used. All towers use these same frequencies. This means that each tower must not overlap the others in terms of coverage area and frequenceis. To ensure this, companies actually use different frequency ranges on adjacent towers. Further limiting how many users can use each tower.
The solution to this is to create smaller cell sites that cover a smaller area (and therefore will have fewer users at any given time). The problem with this is that each new cell site requires a new tower. With all the opposition to new tower construction it can take months or years to get approval to build one.
With the massive growth in cell usage companies are having to create smaller and smaller cell sites. Because of the way the system works putting up one new tower requires the reconfiguration of all the adjacent towers. Their signal area must be changed, their frequencies must be changed and it all must be integrated together.
When you get a dropped call, it's usually because you are moving into another cell site (serviced by a new tower). Your call must be handed off to the new tower. If this new tower is at capacity or overloaded, failures happen.
This is why it sucks for very high density areas.
Luckily in Minneapolis we have very good AT&T coverage. I get very fast 3G speeds and <1% dropped calls everywhere I go. Thank you urban sprawl for spreading everyone out.. When I was in NYC I noticed by data speeds were much slower. I didn't make enough calls to have any problems with that though.
Nice explanation. It seems that the whole idea of cell towers is unworkable. You think it is bad in the cities? Even semi-rural areas have no coverage at all.
There has to be an entirely new technology for this, or the use of satellites or aircraft instead of silly towers. C'mon Apple, solve this problem.

This looks good. Are people forgetting how rubbish iCal is at the moment. Beyond aesthetics, I'd like a calendar that is useful....
Making it look different won't make it better. They should address the usability/functionality, sure.

I'll delete all the music that I've purchased via iTunes that will be available on the cloud, yes.
I wouldn't delete it. Local storage is so cheap that you'd be almost foolish to not have a local physical backup.
Personally, I wouldn't store my music in the cloud. I would back it up and stream it from the cloud, but it wouldn't be my only copy. Call me paranoid, but I like backups.

Simply because htcSensation is 1.2GHz dual core
and... and... iphone5 will have lesser RAM than htcSensation.
Also, Apple is closed and Google is open.

Andy Kaufman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Kaufman#Tony_Clifton), as Tony Clifton, did it first, and far better.
Just a little before my time, but I've seen specials on Kaufman that talk about how far he took it and that even his closest friends were confused at times. Some say that for him it was like a master joke he was playing on the entire world.
Most people I know are horrified and of the opinion that he just ruined his career. I have to agree.
Hold the phone Lee, are you telling me there isn't going to be another "Hot Shots" sequal! I'm going to have to go lie down for a while. ;)

I currently have a black 3GS, and have been waiting since day 1 for the white iPhone 4. I will buy this immediately.
Since iPhone 5 will probably just be a spec bump and maybe a little bigger screen, I'm not all that concerned about it.

Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I didn't care about Apple's market share when it was slipping in the 90s and I don't care about it now that it's climbing. I didn't buy my Mac to be popular and I don't particularly care that lots of people are (or are not) using them. It's just an irrelevant metric to me.
...
Besides, Apple deals in the kind of quality that will keep it around for many, many years, regardless of which way its market share is going and that's all that I care about.
You do realize that if Apple's marketshare were to drop to, say, 1% or lower, they would have very little money to spend on R&D, and the quality and innovation you seek would suffer tremendously? Which is why Apple was doing dismally in the 90's and is doing much better today. They are now flush with cash, and can pump out great hardware products, and develop and refine the software that drives sales. Market share (and high margins) is important to ensure a steady flow of cash for those projects.
So, you don't care about how market share affects you, but if you were the only Mac user, I assure you, Apple wouldn't be manufacturing products just for your puny market share. (To make an extreme example)

if you take guns away from the legitimate and responsible owners, then what does that help? did you really make a difference? no....
and all the criminals will still have there guns.
and all the sudden they have just as much power as the law enforcement, and now they don't have to be afraid that I might have my gun when they rob me. because we don't have our guns....
