You both need to calm down. One of you wants flash, the other could do without. We get it.

And by the way Apple is under no obligation to offer you Flash or anything else for that matter, you knew before your purchase that Safari would never support Flash, consider yourself fortunate that Skyfire exists.

On topic, I wonder if the ipad app will be any different? Perhaps they can embed the video in the website so it takes the place of the original flash content?

    Optical.

I'm going to ask a dumb question here: if the victim had already undergone the surgery, then how could the perpetrators know the victim was genetically male? I'm not trying to be snarky, but there's a logical disconnect, unless I'm missing something.

By some other aspect of her character I guess.

It is a dumb question (sorry). Female toilets only have stalls, so the victim's surgical status is moot.

I was disappointed that the resolution was not updated to 1920x1200...I would assume this would have added siginificant costs? or maybe they think the current resolution is good enough and that there is little noticable difference between the current vs 1920x1200 ? Anyone else feel this is a big deal? Reasons why the higher resolution is not necessary? Thanks

    Ok a couple of things

Assume Apple and Amazon have the same deals with the record labels which is most likely the case.

Sure, they both have a deal that lets the labels set the prices. And the labels are underselling their digital copies on Amazon.

It is actually more likely they don't have the same deal. MP3 like Kindle files are loss leaders for Amazon. They are there and cheap to draw folks to the website where they will buy other more profitable things. That can only be done if Amazon has price control.

That they are being used that way has gotten the public ire of the publishers and soon the labels will probably start talking smack as well

...some people look at their paper money (cash, stock & bonds) and start to worry that all of it could go bankrupt...so they look for a little insurance in Gold, just incase the worse happens then they still have something of real value.

I understand the theory of what you say, that gold has intrinsic value. However, the theory has never been tested in a true crisis. Trust me, if everything went bankrupt (stocks, bonds, t-bills, banks, etc.), then gold will be of little value as well. The ONLY thing of true value under those circumstances will be food and those things that can be used to barter for food (gold would have some value in that case, but so would a box of ammunition) The fact that someone paid $1000 or $2000 an ounce for gold before a crisis will mean nothing. It will be worth only as much as someone is capable of paying, and that will be very little.

The last run-up in the price of gold in the 80s was met with a rapid drop less than two years later to the $350 range, which is where gold sat for almost twenty years. While I have no idea how much more it will increase in value over the short term, the problem is that when the fall comes it will be quite rapid.

The biggest difference I see between gold and stocks is that one is based on negative gloom/doom thinking, and the other is based on positive/growth thinking. I have little to no interest in investing in gloom/doom, and history is the reason why. Periods of negative thinking tend to be short-lived.

    Where are these figures?

The first, third, and fifth are units while the second, forth and sixth are revenue.

The first two are the last quarter, second two the year ago quarter, and third two are this quarter.

    ("Preview" preview)

Am I the only one that thinks this is potentially the new UI?
I hope so, because they could easily make a nice "preview" like the dark floating controls in iPhoto.
Someone suggested that earlier, and I though it was a good idea, and then I remembered I had the same idea the other day. Great minds think alike, so this must happen.

My girlfriend and I have tried to stop by on a few occasions but it's always enormously packed when we go (our own fault for only being in the area on Friday & Saturday nights) and we end up going to Corner Bar up the street instead. But it's definitely at the top of my to-do-soon list. :)

The trick is to go early for dinner.

If it's too lined up, Fionn McCool's next door is fun.

I should hope that nobody performs CPR should someone collapse, since Macdonalds staff aren't medically trained.

No fear of that ever happening either, in the Litigious States of America.

I dont think I could ever go to a Mighty mouse, however i always thought that it should have been bluetooth. I have a bluetooth apple mouse (that came with my iMac) and my Logitech MX1000. The logitech is much more comfortable, i cant stand using the small apple mouse for long periods of time.

I could see this as better than mightymouse, however its nothing to make me want to buy one. The logitech is better.

    Interesting:

Apple sues on 'look and feel', whereas Samsung sues on core technological patents. I always assume it'd be the other way around...

No-one wins here either way, its just crap for us consumers.

Here is my question with the market....

A year ago, when Apple was at 80 and the iPhone and all the new products had been announced, I figured everyone knew how great these products were going to be and had already inflated the price of the stock to a high 80. So, I decided not to buy.... well, as we know, the stock rose over 200. Everyone bought much later on.

So, does this translate to: In a market that I know a lot about and believe in, even though new product news is out, before profit/financial news it out, should I still buy?
(Yes, I am relatively new at this... flame on)
It just drives me nuts, that I knew things were going to do well, and thought everyone already knew and had bought.

I'm not sure Apple would be able to add real value to a TV here.
They always seem to choose less than stellar hardware and then add great Software for the Value Add and high profit margins.

So I'm happy with my 2nd Gen Apple. TV as is.
A TV is big commitment. I don't want to be flipping that every year.
    Besides its heavy and awkward.

Anyone actually planning on buying this? Especially with a refresh right around the corner?

There is no refresh anywhere on the horizon. In fact, the refresh is not coming for sure before September, and there is currently no indication at all at what point after September would it come.

If this state of affairs remains when the white is available for purchase, I am buying it. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the black 4 as I never thought that the design measures up to that "Apple pop" the way the white one does. So, my 3G is pretty beat up by now, and I never dared to upgrade to iOS 4 for fear it will slow it to a crawl, so I am well behind in apps too.

Plus, it looks like we are having trouble thinking up even a wish list for iPhone 5, which I suspect is the main reason why it's not coming soon: there is not much to add to iPhone 4 (except as I said before in design, which for my taste white fixes at least in the visual appeal).

I tend to ignore my family/co-workers when I talk about this stuff. The Apple bias there is quite evident and I don't expect anything other than Apple stuff there. I wouldn't draw conclusions on Mac market share from them either as it would put the Mac on top of Windows by a huge margin. ;)

I try to be honest with myself because if I looked at them, I would draw the same conclusions you and many others are here and just say Apple is leading by a huge margin, which just isn't the case. I don't have enough attachement to Apple as a vendor to go around cheerleading for them.

Haha, if I used my family as a Mac market share indicator then Apple would have sold one Mac...to me.

Yeah that's why I was curious if there was data to support your statement that all of the carriers here are selling tons. I honestly have no idea who's in the lead up here, but based on my observations it'd be iPhone and based on yours it's Android. If they'd release some damned info, eh?

I still don't get the value of wireless in a music player--not in actual practice (battery life and added bulk, vs. the need to plug in to charge, which naturally takes longer than synching anyway).

But whatever it is, I think its chances will depend a lot on whether it can be as slim and light as an iPod, and the same elegant ease-of-use as iTunes and iPod.

If it has those things, the X-Box name could carry it to some kind of success. But of course there can be more than one successful product in a market--Apple is not in danger.
